What is Pairs Volleyball?

If you are reading this, then chances are you a member of the Pairs Volleyball facebook group, and you heard we are rebooting the tournaments.

We have been running these tournaments in Halifax for over 20 years, then along came COVID, and messed everything up.

If the stars align, we will have our first Pairs Tournament in YEARS - in February 2025.

So, what is Pairs Volleyball? At a high level, here is how it works.

  • Sign up as a Pair (hence the name). The pair must be one male, and one female. The “pair” is your team.

  • On the morning of the tournament, you will be assigned a team number (usually 1-19).

  • You will be given a specific schedule for your number, which outlines, which other pairs you will be playing with over the course of the tournament.

  • All matches are 6v6 and are timed (usually between 13-7 minutes), with a 3-4 minute break before your next match.

  • After each match, your score will be based on the ‘over’ or under’. i.e. If you lost 18-16, then your effective score is -2.

  • The team with the overall highest score after 14-16 matches, is the winner, and gets some sweet, sweet prizes.

So, how do I register, signup? We will be posting a signup sheet early in 2025, with dates, details, etc.

Below are linked some pics, and videos of the tournaments over the years. Looking forward to adding more in 2025.
